5 Good monsoon reads for startup founders

Books, I hope you will enjoy with a hot cup of tea during this monsoon.

Monsoon is a perfect time to escape to mountains, in nature, or to the world of great books. This year, I decided the latter, I decided to read. The books on this year’s monsoon reading list pushed me out of my own experiences, and I learned so many things that shed new light.

 

Some of these books helped me a better understanding of subjects. Many new things I learned, I decided to implement and experiment at Shimbi Labs.  

 

Many of these books make you think deeper to rethink and reimagine things you are doing.

 

So here are five books, I read I am sharing with you, hope you too will like.

 

1. The Elements of User Onboarding
The Elements of User Onboarding is one of the most important tactical books is must read for all SaaS startup founders. This 130-page eBook was designed to be the most enjoyable and thorough guide to user adoption for online business. Book provides many excellent, real-world examples of user onboarding.

 

2. On Writing Well
On Writing Well is a book for everybody who wants to learn how to write simply and effectively. Especially for entrepreneurs this book is must read to learn how to articulate their thoughts in minimum words without any clutters.

Whether you want to write about people or places, science and technology, business, sports, the arts or about yourself. On Writing Well offers you fundamental principles as well as the insights of a distinguished writer and teacher.

 

3. Elon Musk
The book "Elon Musk" is both an illuminating and authorized look at the extraordinary life of one of Silicon Valley’s most exciting, unpredictable, and ambitious entrepreneurs. This is a fascinating book that captures the life and achievements of the South African entrepreneur and innovator. Elon Musk, the brain behind successful companies like PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX, and SolarCity. 

Author Ashlee Vance captures the full spectacle and arc of the genius’s life and work. It's fun reading of one the most risk taking entrepreneur and innovator of the current time.


3. 1000 True Fans
This short, clear and actionable book is for creators, who wish to live an independent life. For example artist, designer, app developer, any unique physical product or service. All you have to do is get 1000 True Fans or customers. These ‘true fans’ are people who love your work and will buy the things you create repeatedly. So you are planning to quit your job and start your independent living, read this book. It has many useful tips and real life example.

 

4. Mindful Work
Business leaders around the US are discovering and using Meditation as the key option to fostering a happier, more productive workplace. Many of the largest companies, such as General Mills, Ford, Target, and Google, have built extensive programs to foster mindful practices among their workers. This book explains, how since past few years, mindfulness has begun to transform the American as well as workplaces around the globe.

This book is a fantastic, informative, and practical book about how effectively people are using meditation on the job. We at Shimbi Labs also adopted the culture of mindfulness in every thing we do. Every morning 9 am is our Meditation time.
